Ordination of Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis

With great joy and liturgical grandeur the ordination of Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis took place on Sunday the 21st of March at the Cathedral of St Andrew the Apostle in Kentish Town, London, on the triumphal feast of the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

The Divine Liturgy was presided by His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain and was concelebrated by their Eminences Metropolitan Silouan of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and Archbishop Zenon of the Patriarchate of Georgia.

HE Ioannis Raptakis, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, HE Andreas Kakouris, the High Commissioner of Cyprus, HE Aleksandra Joksimovic, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, HE Theodoros Gkotsis, the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in London, Mr Athanasios Demetriou, the Naval Attaché of the Hellenic Defence in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Archons of the Great Church of Christ and representatives of the community’s organisations were present. Several clergy of our Archdiocese also attended the ordination, amongst a number of faithful, adhering to the relevant COVID-19 measures.
