Alkionides UK 25th Anniversary

On Saturday, 13th May 2023, the Alkionides Annual philanthropic dinner was held with great success at the Church of St Panteleimon Harrow for the 25th anniversary of the Alkyonides UK founding. The event was honored by the presence of His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, His Excellency High Commissioner Mr. Kakouris, Deputy Minister Mr. Miltiadis, Honorary Consul Mr. Odysseus, Honorary Consul of Greece Mr. Philippidis, the Rev. Protopresbyter Konstantinos Papageorgiou, the President of the community Dr. Prokopiou, esteemed Clergy of the Holy Archdiocese as well as Ms. Georgina Dimopoulou from the A.G. Leventis Foundation, respected community leaders and friends of Alkionides UK.

His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas praised the volunteers and promised that he would continue to support the association’s work. He also recommended fundraising from all parishes of the Archdioceses with an annual charity collection. The financial support that he already provides to the Alkyonides association’s UK project will be used for patient needs.

The High Commissioner, a Patron of Alkionides, praised the work of the association and the volunteers’ contribution to their fellow human beings. Alkionides UK mainly supports patients sent to London hospitals by the government of Cyprus when treatment cannot be carried out in Cyprus. The Cypriot government covers the medical expenses.

The founding president, Marie Parisinou-Nicholsby, mentioned in her speech that the support of His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas gives us a lot of strength and stressed that volunteering empowers the community, warms the heart and brings hope to toe in need and their the families.
