Wildfires in Greece

The Reverend Priests and Deacons,
Esteemed Presidents of the Parish Councils,
Ladies Auxiliary Organisations and School Committees of
The Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain

Beloved in the Lord,

In the last few days, Greece experiences the devastating fury of wildfires with tragic consequences for people’s natural environment, crops, residences, and physical and mental health. In these challenging times, our prayerful thought goes to the firefighters who serve heroically their fellows in need, the families trying to salvage the pieces of their life’s labors, every Greek man and woman who are called to sail through the uncharted waters of unpredictable climate change. It is not only the bonds of common origin but also our Christian conscience that calls us to stand steadfast in solidarity in this all-out effort to help our wounded MotherLand recover. That is why I appeal to your love and invite you to offer your donations, which, this Sunday, August 15th, will be collected in every Parish – Community of our Holy Archdiocese and given to reinforce the victims of the wildfires. Let us all unite faith and good deeds this Sunday that we honor the Mother of us all, the Holy Virgin Mary. Many years to all.
