In response to the horrid statements made by Jimmy Carr, The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain collectively would like to express its condemnation of such statements and truly “dark material”, concerning the Holocaust, the victims and the survivors. Like the Jews, Roma, Poles and so many other ethnic groups, many Orthodox Christians shared the same fate.
Now more than ever before, our world is in need of light, peace, mutual respect and solidarity amongst people of different races, ethnic identities, religions. The humorizing of one of history’s greatest of genocides perpetuates an acceptance of such horrendous pages of history and belittles human death and pain, as well as the lasting darkness of such atrocities.
We say: “Never Again!”
