Saint Eata was one of twelve English youths whom Saint Aidan educated at Lindisfarne, where Eata became a monk and a priest. At the request of Saint Colman, he became the abbot. He was later abbot of Melrose and founded the monastery at Ripon in Yorkshire, which he left rather than abandon Celtic customs...

According to a legend he was born in 525 in Glengiven, County Derry, northern Ireland. His father was a distinguished royal bard, and his mother’s name was Maul. He became a monk under St. Cadoc at Llancarfan, Wales, and was ordained there. After a trip to Rome, he studied under St. Finnian at Clonard, Ireland, accompanied Ss. Kieran, Columba, and Comgall to St. Mobhi at Glasnevin...

Saint Maglorious was an abbot of Irish origin. He was educated at Llantwit Major by Illtud. With Samson he went to Brittany and founded monasteries under the protection of King Childebert. Maglorius became abbot of one of them near Dol. After some years he retired to Sark, where he founded a monastery and died. A connection with Jersey is also claimed by his late Life: his removal of a tiresome dragon was rewarded by gifts of land. He died in 575.

He lived between 584-644. He was a Roman monk in St. Andrew's monastery at Rome, and was sent by St. Gregory the Great in 601, with St. Mellitus and others, to help St. Augustine of Canterbury...

Born in Northumberland in 634, Saint Wilfrid was educated at Lindesfarne and then spent some time in Lyons and Rome. Returning to England, he was elected abbot of Ripon in 658 and introduced the Roman rules and practices in opposition to the celtic ways of northern England...
